Welcome To The Multiple Majors Project

This website is dedicated to providing you with up-to-date information on the Multiple Majors research project. We invite you to visit as the project unfolds. From here, you can track its progress and access excerpts of the latest reports.

The Multiple Majors Project will examine the impetus for and impact of double majoring at colleges and universities.  While many schools allow and even encourage students to pursue two, three, and even four college majors, there has been no assessment of this trend’s impact on the aims of liberal education.  We will be studying undergraduate students at both comprehensive and liberal arts colleges focusing on the choice and impact of different curricular pathways – emphasizing the differences among a variety of possible college major combinations.

If you have any comments or suggestions for the research study or this website, please send us an email.

The Multiple Majors Project is funded by The Teagle Foundation in association with the Vanderbilt University Curb Center for Art, Enterprise, & Public Policy and the Vanderbilt University Department of Sociology
